Commissions
Creating an original piece of art that is based on a special place in a client’s life is an personal and meaningful investment made by both the client and the artist.
If you have a project that you’d like to consider with me, let’s connect. If your piece is outside of my realm, I’ll be honest, but I trust you’re choosing me because you see something in my work that rings true for you, and that you enjoy.
It’s ok if you don’t have a clear vision or have all of the answers yet, we’ll work together to craft the direction of the piece. Use the form below to help guide the process. As a client, you’re a part of the process – we’ll look at your imagery, location, and the story of the place or setting. I’ll use past examples of my work as inspiration to create a new piece.
Once the image and idea is defined, I’ll provide a summary for you to review, and create a timeline for updates at selected points along the way. I’ll include the size, cost, timeline, and payment schedule. Everything is finalized before the project begins, and once it begins, I’ll provide pencil sketches of the painting that we review together, before painting begins.
Timeline
My work time is dependent on size, my current workload, and drying time of the painting. Oil paintings take a 3-4 weeks to dry before they can be shipped safely. If you're considering a commission as a gift, please keep this in mind and communicate your timing needs up front. Timeline will be clear at the time of agreement.
Investment
The commission cost is heavily dependent on the size of each project. The additional time, energy, communication, and creativity that goes into a commissioned painting requires a 15% increase in price compared to my other works. Industry standards are 15-20%. Shipping and framing costs are calculated separately. At least 50% of the commission cost is due before the creative process begins and is non-refundable due to the nature of the work. The remaining 50% is due before the work is shipped.
Shipping
Shipping or delivery is determined based on the size of your painting and your location. I ship via USPS, but can also coordinate local pickup in the SF Bay Area or arrange for paid delivery. Client is responsible for shipping costs.
