Yellow Pink Orange Green is based on a park where I often hike, as I do with all of my wilderness painting subjects. Struck by the lush, deep, beauty of this ecosystem, many people hike here daily for their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Humans are attached to and dependent on this multitude of natural systems, and while most would say we don’t take it for granted, we do little to protect them until, say, a forest burns down, or vegetation dies due to drought. Then, most of us still do little.

I often feel awestruck in nature, and I hope to remind people that to feel awe is know that something is precious and unique, and often lives on only with care and protection. Climate change became a viable public threat in the 1980’s, with a warning the atmospheric effects would be irreversible within 20 years. It is now 40 years later.
